Growing up I always knew I wanted to be a teacher. I attended Ohio State, now known as “The” Ohio State University, where I received my Bachelor’s Degree in Elementary Education. After eight years of teaching, I retired when our son was born. Almost three years later, our daughter was born and I became involved with a wide variety of children’s groups and non profit organizations. When our daughter was in high school I began to think about the possibility of going back to teaching. While discussing this next phase in my life with people in the community, I learned that the Rocky River Chamber of Commerce was looking for an executive director to replace the current one who was retiring. I applied for the job, was hired, and the rest, as they say, is history. After working at the Rocky River Chamber for four years, I moved to the Lakewood Chamber in 2000 and am currently the CEO and President.

I love working for a chamber. Each day brings something new and I have the opportunity to work with a wide variety of people and on a wide variety of issues. NEO is facing some challenges but with communication and cooperation we can work on strategies and solutions. NOACC serves as an example of the power of working together. Through cooperation, a buying power of chambers is created so that chamber members can take advantage of discounted programs that help their bottom line. How exciting to be able to help local businesses!
